Automatic Transfer Switch

Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)

Automatic Transfer Switch alongside a QuietConnect Generator

How does a generator transfer switch work?

When utility power fails, yourhome standby generatorstarts automatically and the automatic transfer switch connects it to your home’s electrical system. Which enables it to maintain power to your most vital appliances such as your air conditioner, refrigerator, freezer, heater, medical devices, sump pump, and wall outlets.

When utility power is restored, the ATS will disconnect the power from the generator and reconnect your home to utility power, requiring you to do nothing. After your generator is no longer needed for power, it will automatically cool down and shut down until it’s needed again.

Additionally, with the Cummins Cloud Connect app you can remotely monitor your home standby unit from the safety and comfort of your home.

Cummins offers multiple transfer switch options for our full range of home generators. Your local Cummins dealer will help you identify the correct solution for your specific generator transfer switch installation needs.
